Weekend Update . . . with Me!
First off Friday was my Brother’s birthday so I’d just like to say Happy Birthday Big Brother!! I hope you had a great birthday and an even better weekend!! Love you!!
Happy Birthday to you!!
Also happening on Friday we were getting ready for our big Grand Opening at work. The daycare/preschool that I work at had officially been open for a few months now, but this was our official party to celebrate. To prepare I had to get my assigned bulletin board ready. This is my first job working in a school and this was my first bulletin board ever. The requirements were that it had to go with our themes for the month (animals and fall) and we had to involve the kids crafts. I was a little worried/stressed when my boss Kim asked me if I wanted to be in charge of a bulletin board and had no idea what to do with it. I came home told Matt all about it and brainstormed with him (which was actually me brainstorming out loud to him while he played his computer game).
Once I came up with a general idea and after googling for hours crafts to do with preschoolers it wasn’t so scary to me. I was actually excited to get my supplies and start on my crafts! I think it came out pretty good for my first time ever doing crafts with the kids and putting up a bulletin board. There will eventually be more animals on the board, but we only got through pigs so far.
Close up of the Muddy Pigs and my complete board!
Friday night was our night to eat out (we really only eat out once a week, I cook every other night). That also makes it cheat night and I take cheat night very seriously! I usually already know what I want for dinner of Friday on Monday, haha. I had been wanting to get Marcos’ Pizza for two weeks now. I posted last week about how I had already had it ordered, when my family decided they wanted to have a family night. So I waited another whole week for my pizza!! It was worth the wait though, along with our cheesy bread sticks it made my night!! We also always follow up Friday dinner with dessert which is almost always either Froyo or Jerimiah’s. This week Jerimiah’s won!!
I ate everything on this plate and enjoyed every bite!! yum!!
I ALWAYS get Scoop Froggy Frog (aka mint choc. chip) and Matt ALWAYS gets Cookies and Cream so it was a big deal for us to venture out and get P-Nutty and Cafe Latte. I’m glad we did because they were both delish!!
The Grand opening was on Saturday from 2-4 and it was quite the success. There were tons of students and parents there. Also lots of new parents came to check out the school. There were vendors of every kind all over giving out free stuff and a bounce house out back. Each class made some fabulous gift baskets that were raffled off at the end of the event. I was a little jealous that we couldn’t win because some of them were pretty cool. My job was to serve the caramel apples, which turned out to be a hit. Everyone kept raving about how great the caramel was! Too bad I couldn’t take credit for it, haha. I was just the server not the cook.
How good do those look?? yum!
Prior to the having to report to apple duty on Saturday I went and finally got my hair cut! I’ve been meaning to do it for-ev-er, but I’ve been lazy and never wanted to actually go and wait and all that. I’m not picky and I just go to the Great Clips by my house, well actually this was the first time going to that specific one but you know what I mean. The lady that cut my hair was super nice and did a fab job. It’s so nice to wear my hair down again because I think it’s been about 6 months since I’ve done that, my hair looks horrible if it gets too long because it’s so heavy it just looks flat and blah as soon as it passes my shoulders. Plus my bangs looked horrible ’cause they were too long and didn’t fall right.
New cut! So much better!!
When I was checking out they had these cool flower pens. At my last job we had flowers on our pens too, but there were just fake flowers that were taped on the end. She said that the owners daughter made these and the flowers are made out of decorative duct tape. How cool!!
Saturday night we went to my parent’s house for dinner and had a fabulous time. Of course we always do when we go over there. Before I left for the Grand Opening I made a Peach Sangria recipe from Pinterest that a friend had told me about (Thanks Amie!). I don’t like red wine at all, so this was the perfect recipe for me. It’s made with Moscato wine, Peach Brandy, Peach Seltzer and you put a bunch of cut up peaches in it. It was so so so good! I’m actually drinking a glass now as I write this, try it you’ll thank me!!
Sangria ready to be mixed with the Seltzer to drink at dinner!
I also got som Pumpkin beer for Matt to bring and he conveniently left it at home. I think he just didn’t want to share, haha.
My Parent’s digging in to our feast.
My plate of ribs and deliciousness!
Dinner was great and we also play a never ending game of sticks. Have you heard of this game? It’s kind of like rummy, but different. I’m not sure where the game came from, my Grandmother’s family plays it up in Pennsylvania and she made all the sets that I know of in our family. Maybe they made it up, I don’t know! There’s a bunch of sticks in a bag and every one picks one and that’s what your trying to get with your hand. Once some one gets their combination and goes out, you start the next round. The first person to get 7 stick combinations completed wins. It’s fun but it takes for-ev-er and we started late so we were exhausted by the end.
The top picture with 2 sticks that’s me, I always do good for about 2 rounds and then get stuck for the rest of the game. The bottom one is the person next to me kicking my butt with 5 sticks completed!
Today was a lazy morning up until about 11 when we showered and got ready to head to the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center in downtown Orlando. Matt bought us tickets the other day to go see Beauty and the Beast!! Orlando has a Broadway Across America program and they always bring really good Broadway Plays to town. Earlier this year we went to see the Lion King and last year we saw Wicked. Those were both awesome, so I was pretty excited for Beauty and the Beast. I wasn’t let down either it was Fabulous!!
After we got home is where our day started to differ. We obviously had different plans for the rest of the day, haha. Matt immediately crawled into bed to take a nap with Lucky, while I changed and headed to the treadmill to knock out my 15 mile long run for my marathon training.
I would have rather been napping but I’ll be thanking myself in
December for keeping up with training
Again our treadmill only goes up to 99 min so you have to add 100 to that number,
or just know that it means that 3:09.33 later I finished my 15 miles.
Here’s me before and after knocking out 15 miles- Look at that red face I’m glowing, haha! Surprisingly this run was much easier then my 13 miler 2 weeks ago.
This is after my shower and dinner enjoying my glass of Sangria while writing this post!
Hey, I did 15 miles today I earned it!!
And Lastly a few random things to leave you with. I got these PB Pretzels the other day at the grocery store for snacks. There little pretzel pockets filled with PB, I love them they are so so good which is why I never get them, but since I’m running so much lately I figured it was ok. I’m actually quite proud of myself that it’s been about a week and there’s still some left. I might finally learn how to ration things out yet! If you like PB you’ll most likely love them too!
And this is just too cute not to share. Every morning on the weekends when one of us takes Lucky out in the morning as soon as you bring his back inside he darts down the hallway and leaps on our bed and cuddles up next to whoever is still sleeping. Saturday morning that happened to be Matt. This is what I found when I came back into our room.
Seriously, How cute are they?!?
